Fergie found herself in our care when a Good Samaritan informed us that Fergie's family ran out of options to care for her since she was…infested with ticks. The family's solution was to euthanize her. Immediately, close friends said that WAS NOT an option and to sign an owner surrender form to relinquish this sweet girl to a rescue.
When the friends reached out to us, our hearts broke into a million pieces because at her age we knew that Fergie’s chances are slim to none finding a forever home. However, that didn’t matter, we needed to get her out of this no-so-glamorous situation, so off we went to find a foster! As luck would have it, we didn’t have to look far. Within hours a long-time friend of Fergie’s family reached out and filled out a foster application. She was an experienced foster to seniors and offered to take in Fergie for as long as she needed. When does that EVER happen so suddenly? HERE is the love!
When Fergie was picked up from her previous owners, she had more than just ticks galore! Her nails were so long they were curling in and she also had a UTI, ear infections and a skin infection. We took her in for a full medical exam at Beverly Oaks and to everyone’s surprise her blood results were wonderful and her Lyme Disease test was negative. She's recently been tested for cushings because she shows prominent signs, but again she passed the test and is not a candidate for cushings.
We've promised Fergie to do our best and find her a family to live out the rest of her deserved G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S life ahead. She’s a hapPEA girl and needs a home that will be by her side forever.
This barely 8lb lady comes fully vaccinated, house trained (even asks to go bathroom!) and would do well in a home with other dogs with proper introductions or even as a solo dog if you work from home permanently! She loves to stick by your side or better yet sit right in your lap too!
